Stephen Beavis

Chief Compliance Officer & Co-founder

Co-founding Path in 2019, Stephen has spent the past eight years gathering achievements and ascending through the digital asset space. Using his business education and experience in environmental and financial research, Stephen brings a thoughtful and strategic leadership approach to the company.

Stephen realized the immense value and potential in the cryptocurrency market after purchasing his first bitcoin in 2015. Inspired by this investment, he began reviewing digital assets and disseminating fundamental reviews. Combining this research with his business pedigree and years of data analysis led him to become the Lead Fundamental Analyst at the Ilios Group. As the needs of the industry became clear, Stephen partnered with Joel Birch to build the risk-adjusted investment product on which the foundation of Path is built.

Stephen is committed to mentoring others and embracing progress through change, which he says are products of his parents' enthusiasm toward both. When he’s not consumed by the needs of Path, you can find him running around the streets of Chicago.

Joel Birch

Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder

Joel Birch is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Path, a platform launched in April 2020 to bring fund-level retail crypto investing tools and blockchain education to mainstream audiences. Joel and his team have raised over $40 MM in venture funding to support the next evolution of the business. Joel has been an investor and builder in the crypto ecosystem since 2016.

Birch started as an entrepreneur by launching a drop-shipping business at age 17 as e-commerce sites like eBay were gaining traction. He went on to build several consumer service businesses and has always had a deep passion for solving every day problems with simple tech. While building his early businesses, he dropped out of college three times before completing his bachelor's degree at Penn State.

Before co-founding Path, Birch spent five years helping to lead restaurant growth and sales for GrubHub, one of Chicago's most successful technology startups. During his time with GrubHub, Birch developed and implemented an innovative training program strategically designed for GrubHub's industry-leading sales team.

Alan Eschweiler

Chief Operating Officer

Alan Eschweiler is Path’s Chief Operating Officer. His primary professional goal is to use his knowledge and outlook on the future of digital assets to use in an era of mainstream crypto adoption. For over five years, Eschweiler worked in Enterprise software sales at Glassdoor, a global leader in career and company insights, while simultaneously immersing himself in the crypto world by creating his own trading algorithm marketplace. Upon Path's creation in 2019, Chief Executive Officer, Joel Birch, acquired Eschweiler’s business and the two crypto-focused entrepreneurs conceptualized what has since become Path. Eschweiler’s ultimate goal is to close the gap in crypto adoption and show the world that virtually anyone can invest in the space. Eschweiler studied Business at Bowling Green State University, where his initial interest in entrepreneurship began.

Aaron Alsop, MBA

Chief Product Officer

Always inspired by the application of technology merged with design, Aaron has built products for over twenty years in industries ranging from retail to fintech. His experience in crypto-currencies started in mid-2016 while exploring smart contracts and their fintech application. These explorations later grew into a focus on building solutions directly within the space that involved algorithmic trading and marketplace offerings.

Aaron holds an Executive MBA focusing on Leading Innovation from Royal Roads University. Hailing from Vancouver, Canada, Aaron enjoys boating with his wife and twin boys and pursuing his passion of restoring classic automobiles.

David Liang

Senior Investment Analyst

David Liang is a passionate capital markets and investment management professional. He has over 13 years of public and private markets investment experience, working in roles such as trading, research, strategy, and portfolio construction. He spent the majority of his career at traditional financial services firms such as Barclays Capital, UBS, and Fannie Mae, among others.

David holds a Bachelor's degree in Finance from George Washington University and a Master's degree in Mathematical Finance from Columbia University. In his spare time, he enjoys distance running, ice hockey, and cooking.

Alex Hanba, SHRM-CP, CPSP

Vice President of People

As Path's people and culture leader, Alex balances and aligns the interests of leadership, staff, and the organization to provide a comprehensive human resource strategy. Alex assumes responsibility for establishing company policies, supervising recruitment efforts, implementing performance programs, and administering all employee benefit programs. Alex strongly believes establishing a strategic HR infrastructure provides opportunities for innovation in programs and processes, promotes collaboration, and encourages ongoing participation and feedback.

Before joining Path, Alex held positions at CCIM, a commercial real estate association, DDB, a world class advertising agency, Institutional Capital, a global value investment manager, and Gregory E. Kulis and Associates, Ltd, a law firm specializing in police misconduct, business litigation, and unique litigation matters.
‍

Alex's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Trine University in Indiana; a Paralegal Certificate from Loyola University of Chicago, and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida. She also holds the SHRM Certified Professional and Certified Plan Sponsor Professional designations. She is a member of SHRM, Chicago SHRM, having served previously as the College Relations Committee Chair, Association Forum, and ASAE. Outside of Path, Alex serves as a Trustee on the Park Ridge, Illinois Library Board of Directors and as the committee chair for her son's boy scout troop.
